VOLUNTEERS Volunteers provide a constant source of energy and enthusiasm to the National Ballet School. We have opportunities for volunteers to contribute to NBS team in the following areas: Office and Mailing Assistant Performing a variety of clerical duties including: data entry, word processing, filing, sorting, collating, stuffing and posting brochures, letters and calendars. If you are interested in assisting, please contact Richard Lefebvre or call 416.964.3780 ext. 2114 The Scholarship Fund Committee Since 1961, the Scholarship Fund Committee has helped talented young dancers of the National Ballet School pursue their dreams of becoming professional dancers, by raising funds for student financial assistance. Each year approximately 1,000 young dancers audition for the National Ballet School in cross-Canada auditions based solely on talent. Over half of the students who attend the School's Professional/Academic Program require financial assistance. The hard work and dedication of the Scholarship Fund Committee is reflected in an annual event called The Sugar Plum Fair TM, the proceeds from which are directed to the Scholarship Fund. The Fair is a gift and craft show held in November each year at Casa Loma. The setting, décor, opening party and array of exhibitors make it a magical event and a great way to begin the holiday season. New volunteers are welcome at any time throughout the year. Special Events Assistant Help us with special events like: Open House, Spring Showcase, the NBS Golf Classic, and the Sugar Plum Fair. Duties include assisting with the NBS box office, coat check, providing information and greeting guests. The Benefit Committee The Benefit Committee is made up of approximately 20 enthusiastic individuals who plan the NBS annual winter gala. Meetings are year-round and activities include planning the decor, entertainment, prizes, give-aways and menu.
